FOUNDATION Upper Primary TEMPLESTOWE Term 1 Newsletter MORNINGTON Term 1 Newsletter Foundation level students begin working through Theatre Grade Levels in both the 'Speech & Drama' and 'Performance Arts' streams. In 2012 they will also present a full-scale Musical Theatre Production of Disney's Mulan. SPEECH & DRAMA: offers the development of skills in spoken interpretation and dramatic performance. During solo and pair activities, the focus is on building confidence in the use of the voice while performing poetry, prose and dramatic scenes. Students may elect to take this work to the next level and complete their Solo Grade exams in Speech and Drama (optional) Group work recognises the fact that the performing arts are frequently a collective activity involving co-operation between a number of participants. Students work together to devise scenes using stories, poems, songs and pictures as starting points. PERFORMANCE ARTS: In groups, we explore a range of performance elements to create original performances. Foundation students in 2012 will focus on Singing, Dance and Magic as their Performance Arts, culminating in a group performance. 
In 2012 our Foundation students will work towards a production of Disney's Mulan Based on an ancient Chinese poem, the legend of Mulan beautifully unfolds onstage in true Disney splendour.
